OSS in Software Engineering Education

Software Engineering is a crucial topic in undergraduate computing-related courses and provides the basic knowledge skills necessary for professional practice software industry. Teaching principles, concepts, practices relating them to real-world scenarios are challenging tasks, adoption of Open Source (OSS) projects can help face these challenges. On other hand, adopting OSS as didactic resource may introduce additional challenges instructors who not familiar with ecosystem. Objective: In this paper, we identified mapped profiles concerning their classroom use Education. Method: We surveyed 90 higher education Brazil collect data regarding familiarity areas, pedagogical methods resources used, classroom. Then, resorted mining techniques, instance, K-modes Decision Tree algorithms, identify instructors’ characteristics according course activities. Results: Our findings include characterization that do Education grouping after application algorithm, similar practices.
